Default Possible?

Does anyone think it is possible to make over $2,000 in a month playing only $10 (9 person) SNG's? I am currently trying to accomplish this. I believe the most deciding factor in this feat will be one of time. I do not play more than 2-3 hours a day if that. It would be possible to do if you played a full day of SNG's. Also, I like to multi-table it keeps my attention more. Of course I will update you guys at the end of the month to let you know if I accomplished this.

Obv depends how many you can play a month. I was +800 last week - but was obv on an upswing. Certainly possible, but you'd have to be playing over 300 a week imo.

Yes, but like all activities, your skill level will decide the reward. A top poker player would make a lot more than $2,000 per month. Did you know that Ryan Wiseman has written a book that is right up your alley : "Earn $30,000 per month playing Online Poker" which deals strictly with the wonderful world of SNG.

I have this book and have read it through. It is very methodical and clear. It has me thinking if it really is possible to make $30,000 per month but I remain sceptical. The message is - however - that if you build up your skill level in poker, your earn rate will go up.

So the answer to your question is "sure, absolutely it is possible", but you are going to have to make the big mental leap of realizing that the goal is not to make the money ... the goal has to be to improve your game. The money follows.

What kind of performance do you need to make $2,000 a month playing $10 SNG three hours a day if you play six days a week? For now we will only consider one game going at a time, if only because your objective is to make a base income, not prove you a multi-tasking wizard.

We can solve this problem by calculating what hourly 'Earn Rate' you need to meet that goal of $2,000 per month.

3 hours/day x 6 days/week x 4 weeks/month = 72 hours/month

$2000/72 = $27.78/hour

I can stop the analysis here. If you play $10 SNG for three hours and your Earn Rate is over $27.78/hour AFTER entry fees, you are there.

Hope this helps.

PS. Just to "throw a cat among the pigeons here" and encourage you to put poker improvement first and money second ... yesterday I played a quick ten hands of Pot Limit Omaha $0.50/$1, buying in for $40, and scored a few big pots, leaving with $132 after 9 minutes (a profit of $92), which translates to an hourly earn rate of $613.33 per hour and the lesson here is you have to measure your earn rate over a LONG PERIOD of TIME! 100 SNG is an absolute minimum.

Good luck and if you have specific questions on SNG, ask the forum.

I agree with all the posts. Thanks so much for the information. My friend and I created a poker database for me to use that breaks down how I do on specific days, one week to another, month to month, ROI, SNG breakdowns, cash game breakdowns, MTT breakdowns. I am always analyzing my game whenever I play a hand bad I know I do right away and make a note of what I did wrong. The best book I have read thus far on SNG's is
by Collin Moshman. I highly recommend this book for any player interested in playing SNG's.

I think you would need to play about 1000 games over the month.

Edit: Was working it out at making $1/game, so must have misread opening post and thought the original aim was $1000. Mr TynKyn is spot on in his post.

Tbone: If you play sngs with a decent level you will have a ROI of 10% (more or less) in the level you want to play . For doing this , you have to play 2000 sngs. The only way to play that amount is to play multitable ( I think 10 or 15 tables at once) and here is the key.
Not all sites are easy to play that amount. So .... tell us more about you ... site to play , experience in past sngs , levels played , amount of tables , etc.
Its very easy to calculate the profit with the proper info.

Go to sharkscope and check me out TBone1877 on FTP. That should give you an idea of how I play. I am playing 8 tables at once and am thinking about doiong 12.

sharescope is not the right appz to use. Try tracker , office or holdem manager.
We are going to make plan for the future in order to get X money. So the things that we need is only the ones that you can provide.
FTP is a good place to start. 12 tables would be the minimun. Now ... levels ? hours at day ?

I don't use any of the software to track my stuff. I know sharkscope is wrong because my friend and I created our own database which is kind of like tourney manager. I have been using it for a couple of years and have lots of data about my game. I am a data junkie the more information the better.

When I started this thread I was curious if it was possible to make a couple grand playing only $10 SNG's. I average about a few hours a day. Which usually means around 16 tournaments.

16 at day playing 30 days at month = 480 tny * 10 (buy in) = 4800
U want to make 2000 so 4800*100/2000 = 41.6 ROI

FORGET IT !!!!
