![]() | Hey All, Published an interesting article on Variance today. This one is by Albatross77 from P5's - for anyone who is not familiar with the name he is a veteran of over 10,000 SNGs (probably more by now!) and grinds the lower levels (27's I think) on Stars for a good profit. When Fantasy Becomes Nightmare: The Inevitable SNG Downswing that will Crush your Bankroll | by Albatross77 Be great to hear the views of the community here on this subject (article actually links to several more 'standard' bankroll management / ROI type pieces) CHeers, Mark |

| Very interesting/good article. I've seen alot of good players bust their bankroll because they either move up too early and won't believe a down swing can last *that* long - or they too easily account a down swing as variance, and refuse to believe their game isn't where it should be. You really need to be constantly checking your game, on up swings and down swings, and in between. I have a friend who I routinely goe through HH's or just general theory, to ensure there are no obvious leaks that can contribute to down swings. I could be naive here myself, but the only thing I would add is that going over 22 consecutive games without a cash in low limit SnGs is unrealistic. I would assume that if you went that long at $1-$20 SnGs there is probably a leak in your game as compared to general variance. Your edge (especially knowledge of ICM) is too big compared to your edge at them mid-high limit SnGs. |
