![]() | I personally think there is no substitute for aggression heads up. If you can establish dominance early, it will make your life much easier. You can normally learn alot about your opponent in the the first hand or two. If your opponent comes out raising, he probably knows what he is doing and trying to establish dominance by using aggression. I like to raise the first hand 4x the blind regardless of what my cards are, and I will continue to raise until the opponent throws out the stop sign. Jason

![]() | The biggest bit of advice to change my HU game was not to play poor hands out of position, especially to a raise.

For me , is agro play no matter what cards , Ax , Kx , Qx , sc and pp go alll-in . Monters : raise could be fine in order to set a trap ( off course before the allins ) . For a call it depends on reads ( the first 5 hands could be enough to get a idea ) . But the first hands NEVER fold when im the first in act . | |

| It's hard to hit a hand in a HU game. When you do it's tough to get them to bite on it. I prefer to go with the aggressive approach so they have a tough time putting a read on me. |

| All the parrots on the site are squawking "Aggression, Aggression" because that is what the pros do. Well, the pros have the benefit of years of experience, to say nothing of their initial read of their opponent if live. I am in favour of a more reasoned approach, to learn something about your opponent while the cost is low. Annette_15 was heads up against Mr. Aggressive in the European WSOP in London, and her opponent won lots of small pots. Annette_15 won few pots but they were pretty large. Eventually she won. So there are a number of ways to play HU, and a wide range of degrees of aggression. Remember that if you get aggressive against the wrong hand, it is curtains. One key thing to understand is how many times you can fold before reraising to take the pot and make a profit. The more your opponent raises you, the more times you can fold before you have to reraise him. I love hyper aggressive HU opponents. If they get unlucky, you stand to take most of their stack. The trick seems to be a blend of aggression, tempered by a patient, long-term approach to the game. Of course, that is just my opinion, and that is what this forum is all about, to hear different views and balance out the information. Read the details about Annette_15's win of the WSOPE, and you will see that there is more than one way to skin a HU cat. |

| Yea it is easy for everyone to say that being aggressive is the way to go. I just refuse to check a pot and let my opponent see another card for free that could result in me losing the pot. If they are bb and you just call then you are potentially letting then catch a hand. I am not saying go all in every hand just apply some pressure and keep them from getting comfortable

Hey Flint - these are excellent sentiments, the question that I have is how you blend these factors in real life situations? A couple of examples would be great for helping the community here learn and would be appreciated. Maybe you could break this out by the number of blinds <10BB play / <15BB play / <20BB Play etc (effective stacks of course) Look forward to hearing more, Cheers, Mark |

![]() | The main reason to play heads up sit n go as opposed to a cash game is the rake. the rake is absolutely a killer playing cash games even with a discounted rake structure. I love playing heads up at the Bellagio, but will only play 30-60 and higher because these are time games (not raked gmes) Does anyone know of a site where you can pay by the 1/2 hour? That would be a sweet deal ;) Jason
