| | Given the added complexities of a SnG vs. a ring game, is this move a smart one? It's a situation that comes up time and time again. 7 left 50/100t UTG (1210) FOLD UTG+1 (1182.50) LIMP 100 MP (4090) FOLD CO (1530) FOLD BTN (1330) FOLD HERO SB (4320) ? SHOVE ? ![]() ![]() BB (1337.50) ? ...LIMPER ?? The limper was a lousy player, very passive and I expected pretty decent FE. The issues i have are fairly straight forward, i'm risking 1300 to win 200 and i'm only getting called by a better hand or a race at best. So is this just dumb? The benefit is it inflates my aggression which is good b/c i'm usually LAG early stages. If i can deteriorate my image, i'm all for it. It also sets me up for how i'd play it w/ a big hand b/c I probably am not looking to induce a squeeze there anyways. limping or making some donk raise is gonna make a precarious flop for 22. If you're laying down 22, what's your range for shoving? |

| | I like your thinking on this hand, I think it covers most of the relevant points. It sounds like this player is very likely to fold to an all in maybe 80% or higher, so you pick up a lot of fold equity. This kind of player is what I call a "survivor" they just try to survive as long as they can and will often limp then fold to re-raises/all ins and get chipped away at. As you touched upon this will also add to your aggressive image. I will raise as much and as often as the table lets me get away with before they put out the stop sign and often buy the time someone gets sick of you raising you might actually wake up with a good hand which then further bolsters your "lucky" imageI don't like a smallish raise at all for the points you mentioned, but I'm a pump it or dump it kind of player.
