First of all, I'm extra pissed by this blowup because of the shorty just itching to go out. That's the main reason for my check preflop. I figured unless I hit the flop I would just let it go given the short stack. So I hit the flop, and here's where it gets ugly. Big stack bets the min, given the strength of my hand and the rainbow flop, I just call. Right after clicking the call button, I wanted to take it back. With the short stack (3BB) hanging on for dear life, there is absolutely no reason to get tricky with this hand. I should have raised to 750 right there and gotten the hand over with. Instead, my call let the flush draw develop and my bet on the turn didn't get him out. I don't know why I pushed the river, just a stupid blow up I guess. I think the main mistake was calling the flop bet hoping to extract value. On the bubble with a 3BB stack in play, I should have been content to take the pot down and move on to busting the bubble. Trying to get tricky to get more chips in the pot is what I should be doing with the shorter stacks, not the big stack. I thought I had a considerable edge on the remaining players, so going broke here was just inexcusable. After kicking my self for this, I decided to post it because it illustrates the folly of messing around with the big stack on the bubble. |

| Calling the flop wasent a horrible Idea he prolly should have folded after the turn when you bet 850 but got lucky on the river. Dont kick yourself slow playing can bite you in the ass but does not neccesarily mean you made the wrong play. |

![]() | I think I probably just push the flop. There is a good number of chips there in relation to your stack and I just don't like getting cute with the big stack in these spots. The 4th place is very short and you have a hand you are not folding He's either hit enough to call your push here or he's probably not going to put too much more in unless he catches something that could help him catch up.

| You have two pair on the flop, so a raise (given the fact you are on the bubble) is particularly important, to inform the bigger stack that you have a real hand. The bubble is the wrong time to try and squeeze out more profit from a hand. You have an edge ... raise enough so he *knows* the rest of your money is going in, and he should fold. Given the flop you are not laying this one down and if the bigger stack has lost his mind and decides to call for a runner runner flush ... that is ok because you played the hand well. A note about getting busted on the bubble. Keep in mind that going out in the bubble also means you have made it to the bubble, which is in itself a considerable achievement. When the bubble gets close, IMHO that is the time to bring out the double bladed ax and start wading into pots. Making the bubble is a very lonely place to be with a small stack. A preferred condition is getting there with a strong enough stack to make a run for the top spots.
