To save some money I would recommend staying at the "Gold Coast". It's at the corner of Flamingo and Valley View, right across the street from the Rio and maybe ten minutes walk to the Bellagio, or under $5 in a cab. Rooms aren't the best, but the are clean, cheap, and in a good location.

The Extended Stay of America is also a good place for longer stays, I think they charge about 300 a week or so.

For a short trip of 3-4 days the best value is to book an air/hotel combo package, you can't beat these for value and can often stay at pretty nice properties for less than you would think.

just for shits and googles, I typed in Philadelphia to Vegas from 6/13 to 6/16 and you can get a flight hotel package for two people for around $1000, which doesn't seem horrible considering price of fuel these days.

I'm sure with some research you could cut the price quite abit, I'm also a big fan of sites like lastminutetravel.com and site59.com

You should really get out to Vegas during the series, it rains cash here most of the year if you can play

It was so hot when I was there last June. I have never appreciated air conditioning so much in my life. The tent (@the Rio) isn't exactly the best ventilated structure in Vegas!

Thanks for the tip. Is the extended stay anywhere near the Rio? Is there any Marriot near the Rio or the strip? i ask because my grandma lives in one half the year (for work) and she gets tons of free hotel stays with Marriot that I can use.

yes Extended stay is right next to the Rio also (maybe 5 minutes walk to the Rio), just 1/2 block south of Flamingo on Valley View.

Before I moved to Vegas, I stayed at the Extended Stay of America quite a bit. Great location close to the Palms, the Rio,the North Valet entrance of the Bellagio, and to the strip.

The rooms are like little studios, a sitting room with couch and tv, kitchenette with full size fridge along one wall, then a door to separate bedroom with bath. The sitting room has a pull out sofa so you could actually split it with someone if you were on a budget or not bring the girlfriend/wife with you.

I would try to book ahead though, I'm sure other people know about the great location for the WSOP also.
