The guy is just completely irritating. His comment in the (bad) accent about sending Perry 'back to Russia' really clinched this example as Tony G being just a plain jerk rather than a strategist.

Yeah, his behaviour is completely uncalled for and actually makes him look like a real asshole.

The funny thing is I had breakfast with Tony G about a year ago in the Crown Plaza Hotels VIP Lobby at the Commerce Club and he came across as a very nice and likeable guy.

I think his behaviour is part of his strategy to try and get players on Tilt, but I still think it is uncalled for.

There was a big difference in strategy and being an asshole when he started going on rants and telling the audience not to applaud for 'the Russian'. A lot of it was really undignified and just made Tony G come up as a jerk instead of a good player. I could see how it's good strategy but was pretty much just disgusted by his behavior.

Tony G makes Phil Hellmuth and Mike Matusow look like angels with this outburst. I don't mind a little bit of trash talk, but when you start insulting a whole country, that's a little too much. He probably made him call with all that talking though.

yeah, instead of making Ralph Perry look like an idiot, he made himself look like one

I was actually embarrassed for him, because like I mentioned I have met him before and he seemed like a nice enough person, but talk about Jekyl & Hyde.

I think this is the kind of guy that would have got shot back in the Wild Wild West.

He's not really a good poker player himself is he? I barely know anything about him. Has he won any major tournaments?

Actually, Tony G has finished pretty high in several tournaments. The WPT at the Aviation club in Paris, comes to mind. He also recently won a pretty big tournament in Russia. I'm not sure if this is a function of playing a lot of tournaments (the more you play, the more likely your are to finish high) or actually being a good player. My guess is a combination of both.

Tony definitely likes to gamble, I will post a couple more videos where Tony G is gettng the worst of it and makes some pretty bad plays.

I always remember

when I read this thread about Tony G a couple of years ago lol sick f strikes again

It was made even funnier by the players confirming they saw it happen and that Tony G joins by posting on the thread and includeds a link to a picture (link has since changed but here it is now Hello from Las Vegas, and the WSOP )
