So I wake up today for work and look down at my ankle and it is black and blue all over and swollen. I can walk on it and there is a tiny bit of pain but only when I put a lot of weight on it. Appearently like 2 days ago my girlfriend said "oh my god what happened to your ankle" while I was playing Grand Theft Auto IV and I responded with "I don't know it has been hurting a little" and I didn't bother to look down and see what she was talking about because I was playing Grand Theft Auto IV. So I show it to her today and she is like "yeah I told you the other day and you jsut said it hurt."

It can't be broken because I am walking on it but it is red/black/blue on both sides. I figure with guys like ertrauma on here someone might have some idea of what is wrong. Any ideas?

Invest in The Wii little more interactive. Ankles may not be so weak?

Might be gout, if it feels like you are walking on glass, my condolences. Gout is a real bitch, I get it once in awhile and it aint fun.

No but seriously. I guess it isn't so black just more blue. I am going to have to post pictures later. The wierd part is that appearently it has been like this for a while with other people noticing and not me. The pshycology of it is the funny part. I was fine yesterday but today I see myslef thinking about it and limping a little. Pretty funny.

I am going to try and post pics later. It probly isn't as bad as I am making it out to be but it definetly isn't pretty.

I broke My tibula and Fibula in half 4 years ago. Now that was a mofo.

When I was younger I was a bruiser. I have broken my leg and both arms. I have broken both wrists as well.

Me and my buddies used to be pretty harcore BMX guys growing up. I almost killed myself on numerous occasions.


Oh yeah and my collar bone. That one was fun.

Yeah, red makes sense for gout but not black and blue. You must have injured it doing something, as you don't get bruising spontaneously unless you have some sort of blood disorder, and if that was the case you would have bled to death after all the BMX injuries... Not sure, post some pictures and get it checked out if it starts to worry you.

yeah I will try and get teh pictures. The plan right now is to go to the hospital after work but I think I might want to jsut watch it for a few days. I have the next 3 days off so I can monitor it pretty close.
