| | This is what I commonly refer to as "Victim of Circumstance", no matter what your actions were you were probably going to lose this hand(especially at this limit of buyin). Having said that I don't really like the way you played the flop to be honest. Even though you flopped a set which is normally a very strong hand, this is about as dangerous of a board as you can get. Acting first, I prefer to just shove my whole stack in and try to pick up the pot which is already a decent size compared to your stack. You have like 955 if my math is correct and the pot is somewhere around that size. Just stick it all in and pray for a fold. If you put the shoe on the other foot, do you think you would have folded your opponents hand based on the betting? These types of hands happen fairly frequently in poker, just have to learn to move on, not much you can do in my opinion. Jason

| I either call or fold pre-flop. Obv your not in the position to set mine with TT here, but I like "stop n going" with these kinda of hands, against the other SS Def agree with Karma about open-shoving the flop, absolutely have to |

| Hi Ertrauma. Good to see a few more hands being posted recently. When ever I post hands I always get a bit dejected when people reply with logical sensible lines of play that I completly missed, but after I get over my ego I find it a massive learning curve, so keep it up as I will stop posting hands if others don't post them as well! Unlucky with the result BTW, the chances of having set v set happens so rarely that you can't worry about it too much (espec if you have the highr set )Pre flop why are you raising? you should be raising with good hands to build a bigger pot, or to thin the field so that you are HU, or win the pot there and then. If you do raise you need to raise at least 3x the bet, as raising lower gives any hand that bet first the correct odds to call, meaning you havnt defined his hand range. I would call pre flop. The main reason is that after you have raised you have commited 31% of your stack into the pot before you have seen the flop, and you are out of position post flop. If you call and an ace lands on the flop, you can still get away fairly cheaply. note in the early levels of a sng, utg should have a fairly tight betting range TT+ or AQ+ which means that TT is a fairly vunerable hand. open shoving the flop is the only only play to make in this hand, you probably have the best hand right now but cross your fingers and toes |

| Raise more preflop and shove on the flop. By raising more before the flop you are giving your opponent a half decent opportunity to fold and making your decision on the flop a lot easier for yourself. As GoodKarmaKid said, there is not a lot that you could have done with this hand. The money was going to go in either way, and you just had to hope that the cards fell your way. You could have avoided it all by folding preflop, but that would have been a terrible play. Just start another SnG and forget about it! |
