| It is one of the few really good books to emerge from the Moneymaker explosion in tournament poker and is a ton of fun to read. In the last chapter "you" are in the Main Event of the World Series of Poker (aka WSOP) and have Phil Gordon at your side while you play. At key hands, you get asked "What should you do?" and then Phil answers the question. You do learn something. I will not give away how the last chapter ends, but guarantee you that the ending is absolute hilarious, so much so that I reread this chapter at least once a year, strictly for pleasure. The earlier part of the book is a narrated tour of poker, in a readable style, with good casual poker information. This book is intended to dip your soul in the world of poker and the WSOP, bringing in the excitement of tournament poker. A handy reference but by no means a systematic instructional manual. A non-player will not be completely put off with this book and if a non-player has access to a player, this book is a bridge for endless discussion without getting too geeky to detailed. This book is hardcover (good) and an odd tall book like the wine guides, but is a good commute book, a good book to read in the cuppola-covered hot tub, beside the wall-enclosed pool, at the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas, which is where I read this book first .Not a solid instructional book, but a great start to undersatnding the world of poker and the WSOP.

| I own this one. Decent book, not to much strategy but like you said, enjoyable to read. Good review.
