| This is the book on Pot Limit Omaha that really opened up my game and turned my planned loss learning to playing PLO into a large bankroll. It is a thin, relatively inexpensive book from England and the author is a chess master and recognized poker player known for relieving opponents of impressive amounts of money over the years playing PLO. In short: A solid practical winning player. The book is 100% situations where you play along, answer questions, and get scored on the results. Bring a pencil and eraser with you to read this book. Come to think of it ... bring two erasers ... This is a WORKBOOK, and requires time to finish, but since it is a lot of problems from real play, you can do them piece meal over time. Before this book, I had starting hands that were rigid and played position solidly, ... in other words "I was wound up way too tight" but this book is written in a very relaxed style, and one phrase unlocked my game: "If we only played top hands the game would hardly be worth playing at all" or words to that effect. This book allows you to 'sweat' a top player and listen to his thoughts, the bast way to learn IMHO. For beginners reading this, to 'sweat' a poker player is to allow that player to share his hole cards with you in an actual game. British humour in this book. You know, that dry, caustic comment from a possition of superiority that drives some people wild. I appreciate this Fawlty Towers kind of humour because ... well ... they are British ... .Great book and one of the top books for someone seeking to become a good Pot Limit Omaha player, becasue it teaches you to open up your game, a necessity for winning play. Very little ego massaging and Stewart lets his cards do the talking a very smart philosophy.

| I actually ended up buying this book on accident from Amazon a while ago, I wanted the NL Holdem workbook but ordered the wrong one. Nonetheless, I had a browse through and I must agree the unique approach to teaching in this book is pretty good, and I did learn a fair bit up until I left it alone. Probably should get around to getting the right book... |

| Good review. I have always liked the "workbook" or "textbook" approach to a poker book idea but never really seen it in action. I want to check this one out for the approach if nothing else.

![]() | Thanks for the detailed review - was actually planning on getting another PLO book (have Slothboom's book only at the mo) and will add to my shopping list. I have an older book by Ruben (along with Bob Ciaffone) called 'Pot-Limit and No-Limit Poker' which is excellent. Unassuming, well written, thoughtful and jam-packed with those 'hidden gems' which improve ones thinking about situations in the game. Reminded me that I was planning on ordering Hwang's PLO book too! Cheers, Mark |
