Default Farha on Omaha by Sammy Farha

Ok, this is going to be ugly. I take my poker seriously and when I buy a book on Omaha, I expect it to be on Omaha. The title sort of gave me a warning that I should have heeded, because the title starts 'Farha', and yes this book is all about Sammy.

This is the most blatant piece of vanity press I have seen so far, excluding the verbage issuing from the 'Phil Helmuth for God' publicity machine.

After the first few chapters, I am numb ... Sammy this, Sammy that, with very little real information. Then I remembered an interview where Sammy answered a question from an interviewer asking if he had anyone he was teaching. His answer is that he believes firmly in the old Las Vegas poker maxim "Don't Educate".

Well, he certainly does not educate in this book.

I got little from this book on PLO except for the feeling that I got taken for the price of the book. I am not angry, just really disappointed that a player of Sam Farha's category would allow this fluff to get printed with his name on it.

Unlike the Phil Helmuth first book (that I actually burned ) this one I will keep for the entertianing stories, but when I do a garage sale ... it goes and for 50 cents. If the garage sale buyer plays online, I will also want to know his online name, because I can play him without fear that this book will improve his game one iota.

I couldn't imagine any book written by Sammy to be good (unless it was ghost written)

Sammy certainly has some talent but the high limit players basically consider him a fish and love his action. He can put the hurt on you but in the long run I think he is most likely a losing player. He is a rich businessman from Houston, likes to gamble, and like the notariety of being a high limit gambler.

Yeah I have seen this book at the book store and I always laugh. Thanks for the review, it solidified my decision to not buy this book.
