| I have to agree with Flintsword on the Harrington series and Gordon's Little Green Book. These were some of the first titles I read when I began playing poker. I know I've spoke of this before, but it should be said frequently for new beginners: Read the books, play for a while, then read the books again! I learned so much more reading them a year later; I picked up on MANY leaks in my game. Quite different from reading them the first time when you don't really know you're leaking! ![]()

This article communicates the excitement and personal tension of playing in the WSOP Main Event so vividly that you become absorbed by the story. It is one of the finest pieces of writing on poker there is, IMHO and I told Jim that when I played him on FullTiltPoker in a Pot Limit Omaha game. The Harpers article does not have the crazy Binions trial sidelines and is shorter, but runs a number of pages. I will try and post it in the next little while, but it is tough to get because the copywrite weasels are hard at work stopping casual reading of archived Harper's articles .
