With the 2008 World Series of Poker just a couple of months away, I was wondering if any of you are planning to enter any of the tournaments? Or are you going to try and win your way there via a satelite like Chris MOneymaker did?

One of the best ways to get into the bigger tournaments is by winning a satellite tournament. Most of the online poker rooms run satellites to the WSOP, although a lot of them are just entries into the main event. I think most players would get much more benefit from playing 3 or 4 of the smaller events rather than the "Main Event" which has a ridiculously sized field of 6000+ Jason

Well good luck to you GoodKarmaKid! You're right about the smaller touranemtns. I think for first timers to the WSOP some of the smaller tournaments would be better. Even for some that have been playing for years will find the smaller tournaments better. The main event has grown so much in the last few years with so many looking to be World Champion. Lasting through that poker marathon will take a lot out of you.

That's too bad sol. I guess you won't even bother trying to win any seats to the WSOP if that is the case. Just by reading... UnitedStatesVisas.gov -- Visiting the U.S. It says it takes more time to aquire a visa, so by the time you win a WSOP seat and by the time they approve the visa, the WSOP would probably be over.

sol, Don't sweat not getting to get a visa to play in the WSOP. Play the qualifiers for it online and take the payout (the sites no longer can directly buy in online players..so they have to give you the money). This strategy should be much more +EV than the lotteryfest WSOP itself anyway. good luck

Anyone that is going to the WSOP I hope you have some time to get some pictures or video footage to share with us here on the forum. Especially of some of the poker babes like Jennifer Harman, Erica Shoenberg, Jennifer Leigh, Clonie Gowan, Jennifer Tilly, Shannon Elisabeth, etc. ![]()
