![]() | Here is an old classic question in poker terms. If you could send a postcard to yourself as you were 1 or 2 years ago at the tables - that would convey the things you have learned about poker what would it say? The idea is that you could advise yourself to avoid certain plays or give strategy tips that you have picked up more recently. I think mine would be pretty simple, and say: Dear Mark, For F***s sake RAISE!!! Yours?? Cheers, Mark |

| STOP PLAYING UP THE HILL!!!!! Up the hill is a term we use here when we say we are going to the casino because the casinos here are in the mountains or "up the hill." The reason I would say not to play up there is that the stakes are so low that you can't beat the rake and the 20 minute blind structure tourenys are over raked and luckfests. I only go up there now when the Heartland Poker Tour is in town and on occasion to have fun with buddies. I no longer try to play serious poker up there. |

| Actually I would like to send a post card to myself to when I was about 15-18 years old. I like to tell myself to start learning and playing Texas Hold'em. Actually, if I could send a letter to myself, I'd just include a note with all of the winning numbers from all of the Powerball lotteries. ![]() |

![]() | Greetings from Roatan, Honduras, if you play well you will be sitting on the beach in the near future. If you play bad, have fun searching the classifieds for a job. Remember the following: Game Selection - Always play in the best game possible. The limit isn't as important as the earn. ![]() Seat Selection - Park your ass to the left of the bad players because money moves to the left ![]() Jason

| Another thing I would send back is to have fun with the game and do not take it as serious. Poker is fun but not worth sacrificing your family and friends for it.

| Intriguing thought. What would I say to myself, two years ago. I used to play too tight and too loose. I used to try and play like the guys on the WPT and WSOP, I'd hear that they were a loose cannon, or so tight and strong and I'd try to play to the same image. Don't, it's not profitable. Don't play tight, and don't play loose, just make the best choices on a hand by hand basis and leave it at that. That, or I could tell myself to stop thinking so much about what other people are thinking. Most poker players will mislead themselves, you don't have to do much work to fool them, in fact, the less emphasis you put on misleading them, the further deluded they become. That's two things. If I can only say one, let it be this: Don't over complicate things, play smart, be responsible and all will go well. |
