Default Poker Nights

So does anyone on here have a weekly poker game? We started playing with some of our neighbor's every Saturday night and we are really have a great time. It is a nice way to get out and spend time with friends and do something fun at the same time.

My weekly poker game is a very good time. It is a low 10 dollar buy in. Most of the guys know how to play well and it is lower than there regular games but its low enough that we have all the girls play too. So it is always a good time. My fiance is actually a pretty sick tourny player she has cashed in atlantic city 4 times and in a 200 player tourny at the borgata we both made the final table which was pretty neat.

It would be cool though if anyone wants to set up a weekly 10 player sng at a certain nite and time every week for a group forum "regular" weekly game. I think it would be a fun time if any1 wants to set it up.

Good Idea Kickboy, we'll see about getting a regular game started. Maybe sometime next week after our first tourney which is on Saturday.

We don't have a weekly game but we can usually get together once in a while for a home poker game. A friend has a pretty nice poker room set up. Complete with a beautiful casino style poker table. It's fun when you can get out with friends and have some fun playing poker.

Poker Nights are incredibly popular. My neighbor has a game every Friday night where they have a $10 buy-in tournament, and play 2 or 3 of these mini tournaments, just a social night. I don't play in them because it makes more sense for me to just roll down to the Bellagio and make some money, but if I was a recreational player it would be a good time.

Home Poker Tournaments are a good format for playing with friends because no one can lose to much money.

It depends who your friends are and how much money everyone brings with them.

FOr the most part though home tournaments are more for the fun than the making money part.

Living in Vegas does have it's advantages for you doesn't it Jason?

Even if your friends have money, you sometimes feel bad about taking it.

I occasionally play with people at the Bellagio who I like and who I consider friends, and I just flat out tell them, you should change tables if you don't want to lose your money half kidding of course.

I have a friend whose name is "John Bond", he has written several poker books with "Roy Cooke". He has a great rule about playing with friends.
"If there are more than two people in the pot, play your hand however you feel best, check raise, bluff, go crazy, it doesn't matter. If we get heads-up, play your hand in a straightforward, direct manner."
I think this is a great approach, because it looks terrible when friends soft play each other and check hands down, really bad for the game.

I don't feel bad about taking my friends money because they don't feel bad about taking my money. Although we are not playing any high stakes poker so no one is living the poker game financially ruined. We'll usually just have a buy in of $100 and give out $1500 in chips each and have a single table mini tournament. There will usually be anywhere from 4 to 7 players playing each time we play.

I would have to agree that I don't feel bad taking their money. Then again it is just for fun and no one is going broke. I don't any of actually feel bad when we win? lol
