Default Pivotal hand in 90 man knockout

I've never posted a hand before but this one had me stoked and gave me a huge advantage for the rest of the tourney, which I ended up winning!

No real analysis here, just a great situation with a player that ran into the wrong hand...

I'd be interested to hear what others think about these low buy-in KO tournaments. They are extremely loose until the final table, and even then only 6 or 7 are solid players.

I try to ignore the bounty, as it makes little difference unless you take the tourney down, at which point you will probably have bagged at least five bounties.

I've found these to be decent tournaments, so far I've got an >200% ROI on these. Not sustainable, but makes me happy when I pull up the excel spreadsheet!

I know our resident sit and go expert Mark likes these tournaments also, he wrote about it here:

Which Is Your Favorite SNG Poker Site?

I think he will be around tomorrow, hopefully he will expand a little on your question.

I haven't played these tournaments yet, I like bounty tournaments though, so I'm sure I'd like this format.

Sweet win...I've only played in the $3 KO tourney at FTP a few times, and placed in the money once. It is a turbo, so you have to move quick and can't really wait for premium hands. But if you get a good rush and a bit of luck on your side...it's a nice price for $3.

Although, I don't play a lot of these bounty tournaments I'm not sure this is the best approach. I'm speculating a bit, but I think in certain circumstances, especially if you have above avg chips there would be times you would want to really put the pressure on and get smaller stacks to go all in. Once you get a bounty, the rest of the tournament becomes a free roll.

I realize it isn't that big of a deal in a $3 tourney, but the concept and theory is the same as playing in a $100 tournament. Tournament fees, are killers even for good playes, so anytime you can free roll an event it is even better

I'd be interested to hear what some of our regular tournament players think on this, because I mostly play high stakes cash bames, but an occasional tournament or two.

In my honest opinion I find it difficult to access hand history in low buy in and turbo tournies. These tournies have such a high volume of fish pushign all in with any 2 cards that it is very difficult to analyze any hand.
On the good side very good job on the win it is definatly a nice bankroll boost.

I agree that the bounties can turn a tournament into a freeroll. That's one of the reasons that I like these tournaments. Usually I'll get at least one bounty before getting KO'd if I don't make it far, which provides a significant discount on the entry.

Now that I really think about it, I guess I can't really say that I "ignore" the bounties. Occasionally I will put a player all-in rather than make a smaller value bet on the river. E.g. if I thought the appropriate value bet given the pot was 500, and the guy only has about 1500 left, I'll bet the rest of his stack in hopes of getting the bounty if he calls. In this situation the chance at the bonus probably outweighs the lost value bet if he folds due to the push.

Another thing I've noticed is that you can't expect to check it down in a three way pot with a small/micro stack all-in. Folks tend to try to bet you off the pot in the interest of getting the KO bonus.

I know these tournaments are loose as all hell, but due to my bankroll I've got to stick to the low buyins for now. Does anyone have much experience playing the $10 or $24 versions of this torunament? I might parlay some of my winnings into a $10 one this weekend.

I play regular multis on star with a range of $11 - $100 i tend to play very very tite in the multis until the antes kick in then i pick up a small aggressive style. I tend to cash more than I Do not I also just took down 1st place in a 11$ buy in last Sunday. I tend to also not coin flip unless I have a lot more chips than my opponent

Nice win with the pocket aces. It sure is nice when the aces hold up, as I have been snake bitten with AA on the river too many times. It usually only happens after going all in too. My heart will be beating out of my chest as it seems like it takes forever for that river card to come.

I don't play in these types of tournaments often so I can't really offer anything on that.
