Default How do you Play in Early, Middle and Late Position

Do you basically play tight in early position, loosen up slightly in middle position and play aggressive in late position?

Is early position only for playing top quality hands or do you still like to mix it up from early position?

This is very general, and it's going to be the age old reply "it depends" I'm afraid. It depends on the format (cash, MTTs or SNGs), stack sizes, opponents tendencies, my image, and probably more factors I can't think of right now!

Generally, yes, you want to be tighter early and looser later.

As Blue said...it really depends on a whole crate of mitigating factors (not that I'm an expert...lol). Read, read, read, and then, when you finish those books, read some more. That, plus experience, will teach you how to play position.

Good advice from Blue and Trauma

Playing Style and Hand selection really depends on a whole bunch of factors rolled up into one.

The very best players are like a well oiled, fueled high performance car, they can purr along nice and slow, or rev up their engine and go real fast, then slam on the brakes and do it all over again.

ER's advice about reading, reading, & more reading is solid.

If you only learn one thing, from one book, it will easily cover the cost of the book. Now think about how much that one tip is worth over the course of time? How much will you make if you learn twenty things? Fifty?

My dad used to tell me "Reading is the Key to Success" when I was growing" , I used to laugh at him a little, but now that I'm all grown up, I'd have to say he was right
