Wheels Turning Gus Hansen - Poker Pro or Lucky Maniac?

Curious what everyones opinion of Gus Hansen is? Is he really a great Poker Pro? or just a lucky action maniac??

I'll chime in with my opinion after we get a few responses.

I personally think he is incredibly reckless. I have read interviews where he says he is a math guy and that ATC can win. I still think he plays way too loose aggressive. He is like THE super lag. I really don't see how he does it.

Gus is one of the best poker players in the world. People see 2-3 hands on TV and think he's just tossing chips around like a fool. If being a maniac at the table was easy money, every drunk vegas tourist would go home rich.

Tournament wise, he's won millions. With 3 WPT titles (more then anyone else).

I've heard he's lost a lot in some high stakes cash games. But those are some of the best cash game players in the world. Hanson seems like a competitive guy who probably doesn't know when to quit. Along with his loses in sports betting.

But poker wise, skill wise, he's one the best players in the world. Bankroll management? Probably a D-. But that would put him in some good company with guys like Ted Forrest.

I think he is a poker pro that can be a lucky maniac at times. So choice for that in the poll. He seems to pick the right spots to play the cards he does at times. I think the fact he plays so many hands helps him becuase people don't know when he has a hand or doesn't.

He is both a Poker Pro and a Lucky maniac. Yes, sometimes he gets a bit pretty reckless but he plays poor hands very well. You can never detect he has nothing. It's BLUFF baby!

Gus is a top pro who is also an incredibly loose player that knows when to put the brakes on, so he does not self destruct like the other maniacs we love to see 'flame out' as a tournament progresses. I have not watched him play personally yet, but other pros have a very, very healthy respect for Gus's play, and that tells me Gus is a good, loose, and dangerous pro, and not a luckbox on wheels.

I would be happy if I was where Gus Hansen is. I feel if it works for him why not play that way. Considering where I am in my poker game, I'd be an idiot if I started saying Gus is just a lucky maniac.

Yeah you don't win 7mil+ USD in poker tournaments by luck. Unless he's sold his soul the devil, I'd say he's a damn good pro.

Wow $7M+. That's a lot money for just pure luck. That's not luck anymore, I think it's more of a talent. Gus got the foresight, I mean he can predict his opponents next move. Best PRO so far.
