| Flipping is just pure gambling unless they settle on the odds before the hand is over. Sites should ban flipping as gambling. After watching Patrick Antonius and John Juanda do this I come to the conclusion it is bad for the poker community as a hole. Poker is a game of skill and flipping is a pure gamble on 50-50 odds minus the rake. Let me know what you guys think. It cannot be good for poker. |

![]() | I tend to agree with you, It's rather silly and actually supports the governments position that poker is gambling and not a game of skill. As Professionals and sponsore players of Full Tilt, I'm not sure what these guys were thinking?? Not to smart in my opinion. Jason

![]() | no, When playing headsup people decide to put in X amount of dollars for one hand and let the hand play out like no peek. Essentially they are flipping a coin as to who is going to win. There were also some multi way flips where all players agreed to put in X amount and winner take all Flip | High Stakes Poker Really stupid, just raw gambling and really bad for internet poker in my opinion. | Okay I still don't get it. So these guys are talking in chat and then putting in whatver amount before the flop on a pure gamble? Sounds stupid. I guess it is their own problem if they hate money that much. I can think of about 20,000,000 things better to do with 80k* than flip a coin for it but whatever. * off the top of my head: buy 80,000 items off of the dollar menu, buy two somewhat decent cars and crash them together, buy a nice car, hookers and blow for a week, give it to a hobo, put it on black (same thing but still), pay a band to follow me around and play "Rock you like a Hurricane" everytime I enter a room, start a small buisness, invest it in the stock market, give it to my grandma... ( I could go on all day but you get the point)

| I have read a LOT about the flipping debate, and frankly, a poker player arguing that it puts too much gamble into the game of poker is a pewrfect example of a pot calling the kettle black. ![]() "His cards, his play." Period If there is discussion about how to play the hand, that is collusion, different, and actionable, but if I want to raise with two cards in my hand, then it is my choice. So some players like to just let it ride and coinflip their way through a game? Hey! It is their cards to play as they wish. Never played against a maniac? They are hyper loose and hyper-aggressive but they are exercising their right to play their cards the way they want to. In my experience the whiners in this debate just can't handle the variance this kind of loose play creates and my advice to them is: play down a level. You do not want to police the game until you get a ho-hum game without any personality edges. I recently made a read on some Pot Limit Omaha Hi $1/$2 6-player opponents to decide to push my top two pair, winning a $450+ pot against two players. I did it because I tried to push them off their hands. They stuck to their guns (AAxx & QQxx) and lost their stacks. Man oh man, the whining was unbelievable and I typed in "My cards, My play". Still they were yapping.Flipping as long as it is ONE player's strategy and not discussed with an opponent is a totally legit idea ... it is called "Playing like a Loose Donkey" and should probably be encouraged! However, be warned, in no-foldem-holdem, variance can be huge, so bring all your bravery and a mountain of cash, (and a few changes of underwear ) to play players like that.

![]() | Hey Flint I think you may have misunderstood the "Coin Flip". We weren't talking about situations where it is a virtual coin flip as to who wins like jj vx. AK or something like that and players make a conscious decisioin to play the hand. What we were talking about is two players saying we are going to put in 8k on the next hand regardles of what we have and then just run the cards out and see who wins. There is no skill involved, no decisions to make about the hand etc. We just put the money in and see who wins. That just isn't poker, it's raw gambling, like "flipping a coin" to see who wins. Jason
