| How important is having a regular gym routine or going out for a jog to playing poker? Some of the top players say they are a regular at the gym while others it is pretty obvious they would not know how to turn on a treadmill. Do you think that this has any effect on poker ability or is it just a hobby for certain players who have more time to kill during the days since they do not have regular day jobs?

![]() | I started running a few months ago and now do a 2 to 3 mile run 4 or 5 times a week... almost hate to say it (since I smoked and ate badly for so many years....) but it feels great! Better concentration, more motivation, more energy... I would agree 100% that excercise improves your poker game (unfortunately my extra motivation means I started too many business projects and have little time for the tables!!) Cheers, Mark |

| Yea , I saw started to go to the gym and excercise about 2 months ago, which is also a reason I have not been playing as much poker. I feel a lot better about myself but no differences in my play. I do agree in a long tournament such as the 14 hour days at the wsop or wpt events i can picture fatigue taking over.

| Hey thanks! I actually used to smoke 2 packs a day and managed to quit cold turkey. You jsut have to want to quit. It was soon after I found out the girl was pregnant and she hated the smell. It helped that she hated it and it helped me to quit before the baby arrived. |

![]() | Cheers, almost 3 months without for me now... after 21 years as a smoker! Also 40 a day man (or even more when drinking). Can now smell smoke on clothes which you can not do when you smoke yourself... oh and tomatoes taste tangier and beer 'crisper' too! Mark |

The wierd thing for me is that the smoke smell does not bother me at all. I actually wish i could smoke a cigarette still which is bad. It isn't like a have that constant craving anymore, it is more like if I see someone smoking or smell a cigarette I remember how good it felt to take that first drag when I was all stressed out. It sucks that you can't have one smoke and not smoke again for another month but that is just how it is. | |
