| I was curious to get everyone's opinion on how many buy ins you need to move up and down in limits. And if there is a difference between Nl and Limit Cash Games, Tounies, and Sng. What I do and what i know I should do is usually vastly difference. I, personally have a bad habit of playing above my bankroll due to the fact that I play better. I tend to play too loose when it does not hurt as much if I lose. Personally I do about 10% in a cash room. 5% of bankroll at most for a multi tourny or SNG

| A couple years ago when I would win a tournament I would always enter a larger buy in tournament with my winnings. Now, I will stick to the lower buy-in tournaments. I find it very easy to make it into the money regularly. For the cash tables I don't do anything different I always stay in the lower stakes. |

| when you get a decent BR that of at least over a hundred I would stick by the 5% rule which means never gamble more than 5 % of your bankroll at once. |

![]() | For limit Hold em I think 300 Big bets is a reasonable bankroll for most players or semi-pros. Basically, anyone with another source of income. For Professionals, I recommend 1000 Big Bets as an ideal bankroll. 1000 big bets provides enough cushion for a bad streak, and to ensure that your not going to go broke. For example to play 30-60 limit hold em, that would mean having around a 60k bankroll. Obviously you don't need that to play (especially if you play good) but that provides a nice saftey cushion. I'll have to get back to you on a proper bankroll for no limit after I think about it for awhile but I'm guessing 1000 big bets would be a good number there also. 5% seems a little conservative but not a bad number. There are so man aspects to bankroll management you could write a whole book on just that subject. One key thing to remember is, the smaller your bankroll, the less important it is and the more chances you can take. The bigger you bankroll, the more important it is to protect. I'm sure there may be some that disagree with that, but if you really think about it, you will understand what I'm talking about. Also, as I implied above if you have a job and another source of income, you can take more risks with your bankroll, and take occassional shots at moving up. Jason

| I agree with KarmaKid, its much like a tournament situation: The smaller your stack, the wider your range of betting hands. If you have the big chip stack, you tend to protect your lead and your cards.
