Of course in most other situations you'll never fold aces pre flop.

| I fold Pair Aces preFlop. Usually when playing online. When I really need to go to the bathroom to poop. LOL |

| At the same time you are trying to knock someone out. If you are going to fold aces here You may as well go on away and sit out. I think if you are one of thort stacks and someone moves in in front of you and another player calls then it mite be a good time to fold aces in a satlite

I have no problem putting a short stack in in this position, it is the medium and large stacks that I will get out of the way for. This also depends on how many chips I have. If I have a ton more than anyone at the table I am more inclined to try and bust someone than to worry about survival. At some point somebody has to pull the trigger to burst that bubble.

![]() | Just wanted to add some follow up notes to my original post. Obviously, I know I'm not an Idiot . I just added that for a little sensationalism. The actual point of my post was that once in a blue moon, if the circumstances are absolutely perfect, you may find yourself in the very unusual circumstance of folding aces being the technically correct play. I've played about 15,000 hours of poker and never folded aces preflop, and I can only think of one time I have folded kings. Quote:

One key element I left out of the original post was the player to my immediate left (who had 2nd largest amount of chips) kept getting involved when I was playing pots, re-raising me and making a bunch of ridiculous bets. I really didn't understand what he was thinking, clearly didn't understand the dynamics of the situation. So I decided to just not play any pots and risk the 2nd chip leader sucking out on me. This was an interesting hand to discuss and probably one of the only situations that you could ever fold aces preflop. Jason

I also was reading Ken Warrens book "A Winners Guide to Omaha Poker" and he brought up an interesting point at which he says he would fold aces. It in reality is a situation a player will rarely if ever be in but it illustrates the thought process of when one might fold aces. His situation went something like this: Imagine you are 5 handed at the end of a tourney. The prizes are as follows: 1st - 2000 2nd - 1000 3rd - 500 4th - 250 5th - 100 You are the short stack with only about 1.5BB left (1 orbit) and the big stack pushes and all of the other players with various amounts of chips less than him go all-in. You look down and see two black aces. What do you do? Well you are already in for 5th place money, a measley $100. There are 4 all-ins so it is almost gaurunteed someone is going all in. If you call and win you will still have a small stack and have little chance at moving up through the money. Why not fold as someone is definetly going home in this pot and you can move up in the pay scale? What if 2 or even 3 opponents are knocked out and you can move up the payout ladder? Poker is after all, about making money.... This is just a scenario brought up in the book that I thought was interesting. I figured it would fit in this thread as another spot to possibly fold aces preflop!

| on what you said powda you are still a 60-40 in any situation and you play to win the game. you would triple up actually probably even more with the blinds enough to keep fighting. |

| Smart play given the situation and what was at stake bro. Satellites make even the best players fold monsters when you don't have anything to gain from it...sometimes sitting back and coasting in with your seat/ticket is the +EV move. |
