Exactly! Also, why not play at the rakefree poker rooms! There's a shitload of fish there...plus you save a ton of cash.

Hi , I am new to the site and also relatively new to poker . Sorry I have not said hello before but I was a bit tentative about not being able to make any meaningful contribution to the forum . I am grateful for the valuable info available in the posts which are surely helping me to get a better handle of the game ....at least the theory .

If anyone disagrees on the order or has more poker tips to add to the list please post away.

Free Poker Tips:

1. Game Selection - Choosing the right game is the single most important factor in determining if you are going to win or not. You might be the 6th best player in the world, but if you’re playing with the top 5 I don't like your chances.
• If you are a tight player you probably want to play with loose and passive players, they are easier to read and will fold hands, call with weak hands and only bet when they have a strong hand and will normally pay you off when you have a big hand.

• If you have a loose and aggressive style the most profitable poker games for you to play in are probably with weak-tight players. Your aggression and fearlessness will force them to fold all but their premium hands.
Tip suggested by: PoWda, GoodKarmaKid,SNGPlanet Mark, PocketRockets,
2. Play Fewer Hands - Tighten up you starting hands selection. Play premium hands, you are more likely to finish with the best hand if you start with the best hand. Be Patient, wait for the good hands, sometimes it seems like they never come, but they will
Tip suggested by: PoWda, GoodKarmaKid, sol22, Jetzm, PocketRockets
3. Bankroll Management – Being properly funded for the limits you are playing. You should have approximately 300 Big Bets for the limit you are playing. Another good rule of thumb is to never lose more than 30 big bets in any one session. Also, Good Betting & bet sizing strategy is very important.
Tip suggested by: SNGPlanet Mark
4. Don’t be a Calling Station – It’s much better to be the bettor as opposed to a caller. By being the bettor or the aggressor you are giving yourself one additional way to win the pot because your opponent may fold. Aggression = $$$
Tip suggested by: Jetzm, SNGPlanet Mark
5. Avoid Tilt - Don’t let Bad Beats affect you. There is no profit in getting mad. All you can do as a poker player is put money in the pot with the best hand. If someone catches a miracle to beat you, just get over it and play the next hand. Bad beats seem to happen more frequently on the internet but this is mostly a function of playing 2-3 times as many hands in the same period of time.
Tip suggested by: Foolz, PoWda

6. Playing Position Effectively - Detailed explanation coming soon.
Tip suggested by: PocketRockets,

7. Understand the difference in Strategy between Cash Games & Tournaments -
Tip suggestedby: ertrauma

8. Study Poker Books & Poker Videos -
Tip suggested by: fourKingShit
Do you have any other poker tips to add to the list???

seems like studying hard can get ya kick started , things like starting hands , position , bluffing , knowledge is power !! putting it to use is another story . I think realizing when you are beat , after gaining that knowledge , is theeeeee most important thing you can do , ever, concentrate on betting patterns more and we all can do much more with our knowledge . being overly excited about your hand is a killer ,say you have 2 good pair and you overlook that back door flush , or straight draw in front of you on the board and you call that big bet !! gotcha ! see , that big bet meant a big hand. good luck to all.

Knowledge is power indeed! When I started with Poker, I studied the terminologies first and watched a lot of videos.
