Default Re: Question about Poker Tracker?

ya know it might be a setting but I believe those numbers are:
vp# = # of hands voluntarily entered
pr# = # of hands raised
af# = # of hands won???

I think this is right. Although I have used Pokertracker in the past I never really got to into it, mostly because I don't play a ton of hold em. I am pretty sure that is what those numbers mean but someone else might have a better answer.

First number is VPIP, voluntarilly puts money in the pot, basically % of hands played.

Second is PFR or Pre-flop raise %, what % of hands they've raised with preflop.

Third is Aggression Factor - A number drummed up by PT to keep track of general aggression by a player.

I've been looking into getting Poker Tracker or something similar. Only reason I haven't yet is that there are several different programs out there, and of course, they are each "The Best Program Ever". Some seem a bit complicated. I'm just not sure which one is best for looking at my game (or others....). Any suggestions?

irun99, how do you like the PT software? Is it helping your game?

I didn't like it and quit using it. Just buy another book imo!

Although Poker Tracker was the first tracking program and probably the most popular in terms of # of users, my personal preference is Poker Office, but to be honest I only use it for the "heads Up" display, that shows the opponents mucked cards instead of constantly having to go back and look at the hand histories.

There is an increbilbe amount of information that can be gathered and used for game selection and tracking of players. If used correctly it can give you a big edge. I'll try to find a good tutorial for the program and post a link.

That would be awesome. Haha. I have it, just no clue how to use it... xD

The programs are definitely worth it, imo. If for nothing else than for just analysing your own game.

I use poker office, but it's in essential need of a good update - a lot of stats missing that other software provides - how often player 3bets, call FCB(flop continuation bet), Steal blinds from small blind etc(is this a steal?). - update is expected for this summer.

Poker Tracker seams much more popular based on other forums hand histories etc, PT3 looks like it has a few teething problems with bugs, but will probably be great software later down the line, and I've heard good reviews for holdem manager.

personal preference stays with PO, but in reality they all do the same job, with HUD that give you loads of information.

If you don't have it - get it and spend time getting comfortable with it other wise you are bleeding money on both cash, sng and tournaments IMO. remember most other people at your table will be using the software against you!!
