| So in MTT tournaments, one you really want to win, do you think its ever called for to fold aces, heads up early in the tournament. Obviously its the best hand you can have preflop, but if a player wanted to be safe and wait til he had a chip stack before "gambling", would it be alright to fold Aces preflop just not to risk being kicked out of the tournament? |

| Situations for folding aces preflop are very few. You have to get chips at some point, so if you aren't going to play aces in the early stages why even play at all? In addition, the situation you described is exactly the way that you DO want to play aces, heads up against one other player. |

| No, no, no... Only fold aces pre-flop in limited circumstances in sats. |

![]() | Folding Aces preflop is very, very rare. I've been playing for a long time and the situation has only come up one time. We discussed it a couple months ago in this thread: I folded Aces before the flop, am I an idiot?? Basically to summarize, the only time you should ever fold aces preflop is when there is an overwhelming financial reason not to get involved. Jason

| Early on heads up is the best chance to accumulate chips. Folding aces would be just like forfeiting the tourny. You may as well not play poker any more if you are going to fold aces early in tourny heads up. Maybe around the bubble or satelite situations you could consider it but overall folding aces preflop is just not wanting to win. Can not play poker looking to avoid losing all the time.

| This is a touchy topic,!! alot of it has to do with your style of play, what part of the tourney you are in, how close are you ITM, I do agree that"what better time than with aces to gamble preflop". and heads up? lets battle. But at the same time, you need know that if you start folding strong hands!, others will catch on to what you are doing, and make every decision a hard one for you. I have folded ace's before preflop,& postflop for a couple of reason, the first one was, #Target touneys--- safe stack, and very close to placement #when I first started, placement meant more than winning to me, but if you think about it, all the small placement that I would get, one win could cover all their winnings, so I do play to win these days... I think the real time to gamble is when the blinds are high, when blinds are low I play very tight.. and will dump some playable hands,I just believe that if I can make it to where the blinds and pots are bigger, I can choose when and where Im going to make my move.. If you do take the gamble, know that you did take the correct move.. win or lose, go with your gut!! Cash table preflop NEVER.... |

| Preflop ... sorry, no. Life is way too short to start chucking AA before the flop for any reason. I have folded AA many times in the course of post-flop play when you have more than one player contesting a pot with a flush draw and a str8 on board, and I do not have the ace for the flush draw ... sure ... the aces are beat and they go in the muck, but preflop? Nope. The only people that even consider folding AA preflop have coats with buckles and straps attached to the sleeves .

| NO worst case scenario your a big fav, do you really expect to win the torn without a race? the only possible situation would be your in the WSOP on the bubble in BB and everyone on the table befor you goes all-in before you and everyone of them has you covered,.....but a point of reference that is about as likely as a sane man foldind aces. and if they do get cracked in your scenario remember these words.....its better to burn out than to fade away! |
