Default Spam and a possible upgrade...

The spam today is ridiculous. I hate spammers, just thought I would add that.

One more thing: A possible improvement to the forum, have you considered putting a "New Posts" button on EVERY page? Espescially in threads. That was rather than haveing to press "Home" then "Unread Posts" you can just press "New Posts" right on the page you are on. Just wondering. I remember I was on a forum that had that button on every page and it was really nice and convenient.

The reason the spam is picking up, is because our rankings in Google are increasing (which is a good thing) but it also means more spammers unfortunately. I just hired a coder/programmer to have on call and we are going to implement a few other features, like no links for new posters until they have X amount of posts (probably like 15 or 20) which should help some.

Unfortunately, there's not great way to get rid of "real live" spammers that are working from the sweatshops in India just clicking cut and paste all day.

I'm going to add some additional moderators soon, I got a couple picked out already . I just need to setup the permissions correctly. I hate spammers with a passion and I'll do my best to get rid of those scumbags.

That's a great idea and I'll add it my list of tweaks for our next major upgrade which is coming soon. A temporary work around is to click on "quick links" from above right, then click on "today's posts", it's not quite as good as the new posts because it shows all of today's posts but I believe the posts that you have not read yet are in bold.

Excellent suggestion though, keep them coming.

I've added a new feature so that new members have to have at least 15 posts to post active links (links that work). This should slow down some of the spam as a non-active link has little to no value. I would guess we still will get some spammers though.

One additional thing the members can do to help us with the spam, is to use the little red triangle just to the left of the panic button to report spammy messages.

Thanks, and lets hope the spammers go away.

Jason
