Default Slow text...

For some reason when I type anything, the letters c.......o.......m.......e.......o.....u.....t..... l.....i.....k.....e......t.....h.....i....s.....

It's so bad that I could type the entire ... part before the "m" even showed up. I notices the smileys get really jumpy as I type like they are competeing for bandwidth. Any way to get rid of them orturn them off?

This slowness is the only reason I have not posted much before. Any help would be appreciated.

Strange, cause I haven't ever had an issue, and this is the first I've heard of it.

The site runs on a dedicated server and is capable of handling much more traffic than we get.

Give me a few details about your setup and I will try to replicate it. What operating system you use? What browser you are using? any plugins, etc.?

Typically, these types of lag issues have to due with Memory usage/Memory leaks, usually on the end users PC where basically your computer is running out of RAM. Just one possibility, not saying thats the problem.

Is anyone else having these types of issues???

I have experienced the problem with both IE and with Firefox. I'm running windows XP.

I managed to play with some of the settings I had on this site and have fixed the problem. Under the control panel there is a link to "edit options". Near the bottom of that theres a "misc options" section that lets you select the type of editor you want to use. I had it set to the highest setting, the "enhanced interface." Once I switched that to the standard editor, everything seems to work fine now (the smileys still show up too).
