I don't want to discourage you from playing the "Main Event" but I honestly believe most players would be much better off taking that same money (10k) and entering 3 or 4 smaller tournaments. In fact, I already wrote about it here:

You will pick up an incredbile amount of experience by playing these smaller big buy in WSOP events and realistically give yourself a better chance of winning an event or cashing.

Also you could take 4 or 5 shots at super satellites in the evening, or try to parlay a couple of one table satellites.

It probably sounds harsh, but if you can't win a seat in 3 or 4 super satellite attempts or win some smaller one table satellites you probably don't have the skillset to win a big tournament.
