This is very general, and it's going to be the age old reply "it depends" I'm afraid. It depends on the format (cash, MTTs or SNGs), stack sizes, opponents tendencies, my image, and probably more factors I can't think of right now!
Generally, yes, you want to be tighter early and looser later.
