Do you get off of these hands in Tournaments??? If not then I'm guessing the fixed loss/win ratio actually helps you in tournaments as opposed to cash games where the loss/win is determined more by the amount of chips you have?
Presumably your playing no-limit cash games?? One idea you may experiment with is to buy short in the no limit games, its similar to tournament strategy, you limit your losses to what you have in front of you. If you double through once or twice, you cash out and then log into another game short. Of course the downside is that you don't win as much, but you don't lose as much when you get yourself in a pickle either.
