Got to agree with Ace-high here - the Harrington books should be on any must-read list.
I'd add the following:
- No Limit Holdem: Theory And Practice. by Sklansky and Miller (great for cash-game players but a good general read too)
- Professional Pot-Limit Omaha. by Rolf Slotboom (best PLO book out there IMO and something new to discover each time you read!)
- Colin Moshmans SNG Book... forget the exact title but makes a good intro to SNGs even if some of the ICM / Mathematical parts are a little unclear for beginners.
For entertainment rather than education 'The Making Of A Poker Player' by Matt Mattros is a good read....extremely well written and flows nicely from his childhood home games right through to the WPT.
