Re: Heads-Up SNG Tips??
All the parrots on the site are squawking "Aggression, Aggression" because that is what the pros do. Well, the pros have the benefit of years of experience, to say nothing of their initial read of their opponent if live.
I am in favour of a more reasoned approach, to learn something about your opponent while the cost is low. Annette_15 was heads up against Mr. Aggressive in the European WSOP in London, and her opponent won lots of small pots. Annette_15 won few pots but they were pretty large. Eventually she won. So there are a number of ways to play HU, and a wide range of degrees of aggression. Remember that if you get aggressive against the wrong hand, it is curtains.
One key thing to understand is how many times you can fold before reraising to take the pot and make a profit. The more your opponent raises you, the more times you can fold before you have to reraise him.
I love hyper aggressive HU opponents. If they get unlucky, you stand to take most of their stack. The trick seems to be a blend of aggression, tempered by a patient, long-term approach to the game.
Of course, that is just my opinion, and that is what this forum is all about, to hear different views and balance out the information.
Read the details about Annette_15's win of the WSOPE, and you will see that there is more than one way to skin a HU cat. |
